Rocky Mountain Airways was a regional airline based in Denver, Colorado, United States. It was founded in 1974 and started operations in 1976. The airline primarily served the Rocky Mountain region, including Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, and Montana.
Rocky Mountain Airways operated a fleet of Dornier 228 and Beechcraft 99 aircraft. It offered scheduled passenger flights as well as air freight and charter services. The airline was known for its scenic flights over the Rocky Mountains to destinations such as Aspen, Vail, and Steamboat Springs.
In 1986, Rocky Mountain Airways was acquired by regional airline Republic Airlines, which later merged with Northwest Airlines in 1986. The Rocky Mountain Airways brand was gradually phased out, and its services were integrated into Republic's and Northwest's operations. Today, the legacy of Rocky Mountain Airways lives on through the continued air service to the Rocky Mountain region by various airlines.
